Slade's Ferry Bridge, which crosses the Taunton River at Fall River, is an iron drawbridge, with brick abutment. Overhead are tracks for the steam cars, and beneath, a way for teams and pedestrians. A few years ago the bridge was thought to be sinking, but after a survey by engineers, it was found to have sunk but 1/4 of an inch since its erection. It was completed in 1876 and is now too small for traffic.
