Boston & Maine's Train Number 54 with new E-7's in experimental "Rock Island" style paint, sporting silver flanks to match stainless steel equipment, waits at Greenfield, Massachusetts in 1946. By 1948 these units were painted into the standard Boston & Maine maroon with yellow stripes.
