This abandoned relic of the old Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington No. 1 fascinated railroad buffs in the late 1930's. The boiler, having been mounted on trucks and hauled around the railroad as a mobile power source, was stranded by the rising waters of Sherman Reservoir. From "Hoot Toot & Whistle" by Bernard R. Carman from the Shortline Railroad Series published by The Stephen Greene Press.
