Two of the seven steam locomotives bought by the Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington after the railroad changed to standard gauge in 1913 were No. 21 (ex-Lake Shore & Michigan Southern), 4-6-0 built by Brooks in 1892 and scrapped in 1949 - probably the last engine of that vintage in regular service in the USA - and No. 14 (ex-Pennsylvania Railroad), 4-4-0 built by Pennsylvania Railroad in 1883 and eventually scrapped. Illustrations from 'Hoot Toot & Whistle' by Bernard R. Carman from the Shortline Railroad Series published by The Stephen Greene Press.
