Train #24, The Morning Steel King, passed the section foreman's office at New Castle, Pennsylvania on August 29, 1956. The train was a joint Erie/Pittsburgh & Lake Erie (P&LE) run from Cleveland to Pittsburgh with a P&LE RPO, an Erie coach, and Baltimore & Ohio coaches. Alco passenger unit #4214 was one of two model PA-2 units (4213-4214) built for the P&LE in May 1952 and operated only 8 years until retirement in December of 1960. The P&LE was part of the New York Central System, but operations were conducted separately.
