Bound for Lowell, Massachusetts, 4 Boston & Maine RDC's depart Boston's North Station, spewing heavy exhaust, in August 1970. The Budd Company built 398 of these self-propelled cars between 1949 & 1962, with the Boston & Maine purchasing the largest fleet consisting of 86 cars. As of 1990 only several RDC's remain in service, sadly none on the Boston & Maine.
