Built in 1942 by the St. Louis Car Company for the Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) Railways, PCC Car 1440 was acquired by the Seashore Trolley Museum in 1968 from the Port Authority of Allegheny County. The trucks have been regauged so the car can run on museum trackage, and the body has been refurbished inside and out. With the acquisition of 1440, Seashore's collection embraces nearly every type of streetcar from horsecar to streamliner.
